Walker Construction, Inc. began operations in 1983 as a small general contractor. The economy in Spokane at that time was very unfavorable. However, we saw a niche in the area of negotiated work. We realized a general contractor only gets negotiated work from two sources. One, is repeat business from a satisfied owner or architect; or two, by a referral from a satisfied owner or architect.

Since our goal was to negotiate work, we realized satisfying owners and architects was crucial. Eighteen years ago we began keeping track of the amount of negotiated work we did as a barometer of how well we were satisfying our customers. In the past years Walker Construction, Inc. has completed 697 projects. Of these, 586 have been negotiated. Therefore, eight out of every ten projects we complete are negotiated with repeat customers or referrals. This is a statistic which speaks for itself. Obviously, if we were not leaving owners and architects happy at the end of the job, we would not have this rate of negotiated work.

We believe every project we do for a new owner or architect is the beginning of a long-term relationship. It has been these relationships which have been the foundation of our growth as a company. Our company has grown from having three full time employees in 1983, to having approximately 80 employees in 2007. The company expects to do a volume in the 40 million dollar range this year.
